On Sunday, Denny Hamlin grabbed the top on a re-start and he had to sweat out his fuel mileage over the last few laps to snatch a victory at the Phoenix International Raceway.

In his 2nd race with Darian Grubb, the new crew chief, Denny dropped the memories of a championship-losing race at Phoenix in the year 2010 by dominating the final fifty-nine laps as well asĀ  holding off the best closer of NASCAR. Over the last few laps, Kevin Harvick had Hamlin in his views, but he ran out of fuel and ended at 2nd spot. Denny Hamlin was really concerned about gas, but he had plenty to celebrate his eighteenth career win.

At the 3rd spot, it was Greg Biffle and Jimmie Johnson came back from a calamitous Daytona 500 to end in 4th spot in spite of wheel issues through the 312 lap race. In the last four races, he had ended no better than eleventh spot. In the 2010 season, there was a calamitous finished caused by bad fuel strategy which might have cost him a scope at his very first sprint championship.

Commanding the whole race, Denny had to take a late pit stop for gas and wound up nineteenth whereas Johnson was at the 5th spot. Hamlin ended the race 9th in the Sprint Cup positions in the year 2011 and started this season with a tough run at the Daytona 500, ending 3rd after qualifying thirty-first.

Denny began thirteenth at PIR and shortly led a few times before defeating Harvick off the line after a precaution. He moved to the checkers when the No. twenty-nine car ran out of fuel.
